Fire Sprinkler Inspection, Testing and Repair in Phoenix

AZ Firetech inspects, tests and repairs fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, retail and multifamily properties in Phoenix and the East Valley. We follow NFPA 25, keep your quarterly and annual inspections on schedule, and send a clear report with photos and next steps within 24 hours.

What does a fire sprinkler inspection include?

Every inspection follows the NFPA standard for the system and the requirements of your local fire department. Here is what we check:

  • Sprinkler heads, piping, hangers and bracing, checked from the floor for damage, paint, corrosion and blockage
  • Control valves: position, seals, locks and supervision
  • Waterflow and tamper switches, tested so the fire alarm actually gets the signal
  • Gauges, the fire department connection and the riser
  • Main drain test to compare water supply against past results
  • Dry pipe and preaction valves, air compressors and trip tests
  • Spare head cabinet: the right heads, the right count and a wrench

Control valves and tamper switches are checked on every sprinkler inspection.

How often is it required?

These are the typical intervals under current NFPA standards. Your fire department (the authority having jurisdiction) has the final say, and we keep track of what applies to your building.

What happens if something fails?

Common sprinkler deficiencies in the Valley include painted or corroded heads, storage stacked too close to sprinklers, leaking valves and failed flow switches. We document each one with photos, explain what is urgent and what can be planned, quote it clearly, fix it and report the correction to your fire department.

Why does a sprinkler test involve the fire alarm?

A sprinkler system only does half its job if nobody knows it is flowing. During each test we confirm the waterflow switch signals the fire alarm panel and that the panel reports the right riser. Because we handle both systems, you get one visit and one report instead of two vendors pointing at each other.

Frequently asked questions

How often do fire sprinklers need to be inspected?

NFPA 25 calls for quarterly inspections of alarm devices, gauges and the fire department connection, plus a full annual inspection and main drain test. Internal pipe assessments happen every five years. Your fire department may require more, and we keep the calendar for you.

Do sprinkler heads expire?

Standard sprinkler heads must be tested or replaced 50 years after install, fast response heads at 20 years, and heads in harsh environments more often. Painted, corroded or damaged heads must be replaced right away.

How much clearance do I need below sprinkler heads?

Generally at least 18 inches between the top of storage and the sprinkler deflector. Some storage types need more. We flag clearance problems during inspection because they are one of the most common citations.

Can you repair a leaking sprinkler system?

Yes. We handle repairs to heads, valves, switches and piping, and we can respond same day or next day to urgent leaks and impairments.

Do you test dry pipe systems?

Yes, including the annual partial trip test, the full trip test every three years, air compressor checks and low point drains.
